Saffire Freycinet, Tasmania
Saffire is a luxury coastal sanctuary on Tasmania’s East Coast, capturing the essence of this unique region and connecting with its environment to generate an authentic, enriching, rejuvenating and uplifting experience.
Distinct in its design, exclusive in its features and set apart by its approach to tailored, one-on-one experiences and service, Saffire’s approach is not constrained by traditional five-star ratings and standards, but instead sets a bold new direction for holidays and accommodation in Australia.
Dedicated to providing quality, memorable service; unforgettable experiences; indulgent and self-selected dining options; inspiring accommodation spaces and an overall sense of wellbeing and relaxation, Saffire will change the way you feel about taking time out, and about day-to-day living.
Saffire is boutique not only in its size, with just 20 accommodation suites, but in its approach to making your well-deserved break last a lifetime.
Location
The Freycinet Peninsula extends south-eastwards from Tasmania’s coastline and is a fully protected national park, including the internationally acclaimed Wineglass Bay. Saffire is located on the inside of the gentle curve of sandy coastline that joins the peninsula to mainland Tasmania. Saffire overlooks the wide expanses of Great Oyster Bay, where migrating whales and dolphins come to play; calamari and squid in-season spawn in the rocky outcrops; local farms produce fresh, succulent oysters in some of the world’s cleanest waters; and fishing boats and trawlers bring in their daily catch of crayfish, scallops and deep sea fish, dripping and salty-sweet straight from the ocean
Climate
The climate is similar to the south of France, with more than 300 days of sunshine and mean temperatures of around 23°Celsius (73.4° Fahrenheit) in January and 14°Celsius (57.2° Fahrenheit) in July.
Tasmania has four distinct seasons. Summer is warm with sunny days and mild evenings. The weather is more stable between the months of February and April, from mid-summer to late autumn. Autumn provides the classical transition to winter with cool to frosty nights and clear cool days with deciduous trees displaying autumn colours and losing leaves. Winter is characterised by sudden storms, shorter daylight hours and even snow on the highest Hazards peaks. Spring brings showers and new growth, warming to summer.
No matter when you come bring a warm jacket and a rain jacket. If you are coming in the cooler months, it's best to bring clothing you can layer because even the winter sun is quite warm. Jumpers are recommended for the evenings, all year round. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended to allow you to fully explore the natural wonders of the Freycinet Peninsula.

The new Saffire Freycinet definitely has a WOW factor! Amazing view, amazing design, excellent service on site and off site when you are on tour, beautiful food and fantastic selection of wine!
Its an all inclusive resort, all meals and drinks are taken care of, as well as daily activities around the area. Spa treatment is also available onsite.
We participated in their afternoon Oyster Farm trip, what an experience...sipping champaign and tasting various oysters with amazing views!
I highly recommend Saffire as the most luxurious holiday in Tassie! You can visit in conjunction with Hobart or Launceston, approx. 2.5 hours drive, and Cradle Mountain, another 2.5hours from Launceston. Its definitely the best lodge in Tassie! Flights to Tassie are less than $100 one way from most cities in Australia.
